Soloists on Stage - Press Archive

January 22, 2011

Soloists on Stage is a win-win concert for the audience, the musicians and the NCO organization. The musicians perform gratis as soloists for the benefit of NCO, while delighting the audience with their music and talents.

The performance has a varied program: Violinist Milton Schwartz and pianist Russel Bechtloff will begin the evening with works by rising American composer Jonathan Kolm: Tereo and his arrangement of the Lord's Prayer; as well as Antonin Dvořák's Romantic Piece No. 1 and Fritz Kreisler's Tempo di Minuetto (in the style of Pugnani).

In keeping with its mission to afford opportunities for students of music, NCO will present Vivaldi's Double Trumpet Concerto in C featuring Bucks County Community College students Jeff Heagy and Tyler Fedeli accompanied by NCO musicians. Also, guests-sopranos Sarai Johnson and Gabrielle Antonini-from the Opera Project, will perform works of Verdi and W.A. Mozart accompanied by pianist Dr. Richard McIntyre. The program will end with three movements from Beethoven's String Trio No.1, Op.3 performed by Russell Hoffmann, violin, Marjorie Selden, viola and Bruce Mikolon, cello.
